Choreography : Damien Jalet
Created in 2017
Duration : 45 min for Skid
Duration: 30 min for THR(O)UGH

Skid

Oscillating between verticality and horizontality, Skid is presented on a 34-degree inclined platform that plunges directly into the orchestra pit With only two entrances into the angular space: above and below, the dancers draw lines of physical history between appearance and disappearance. Each movement in this choreographic exploration is created from the limits and new possibilities of the slope.

THR(O)UGH

Inspired by the Japanese ritual of Onbashira, Damien Jalet invites the dancers to interact with a huge cylindrical object designed by New York artist Jim Hodges. After the terrorist attacks in Paris in November 2015, Jalet incorporated his trauma into the creative process. As in an Onbashira ritual, the stage becomes a place of danger. Immobility becomes synonymous with death, as if the movements of the dancers were carriers of a flame that refuses to be extinguished in adversity.
