Shiver
Choreography : Edouard Hue
Music : Jonathan Soucasse
Created in 2019
Duration : 20 min
Shiver is a commission from the Yokohama Ballet Festival, one of the most prestigious galas in Japan. For the 2019 edition, the 5th anniversary of the festival, Yasuyuki ENDO asked Edouard Hue to create a duet for Yurié Tsugawa – Angelin Preljocaj’s soloist for 10 years and Yoann Bourgeois’ assistant – and himself.
Shiver was born out of the excitement of participating in this iconic event. The piece explores the thrill of excitement, cold, fear… in all its possibilities to achieve a frenetic piece. The dancers are propelled into a millimetre choreography where the precision of movement and rhythm are tested to the limit. Jonathan Soucasse’s music leads the dancers into a trance where the thrill is transmitted to the spectator through the vibrations of the music and the frenetic pulse of the choreography.
Press talks about it
« The two performers are like magnets, playing on attraction as much as repulsion. They are two beings who have come out of nowhere, struggling with their impossibility of being here and now, creating a real inner cataclysm. Like fallen angels, they dance until they are no longer, leaving room for others.»
