L'Amour sorcier
Choreography Thierry Malandain
Music Manuel de Falla
Set design and costumes Jorge Gallardo
Lighting design Jean-Claude Asquié
Created in 2008, re-creation in 2026 – Duration 25 mn
For 16 dancers
Inspired by a Gypsy legend and the rites celebrating the renewal of spring, the piece explores the eternal cycle of life and death, carried by Manuel de Falla’s Danza Ritual del Fuego. In an atmosphere of superstition and sorcery, the love of Candelas and Carmelo is disturbed by the specter of the young woman’s deceased fiancé. To universalise the message, Thierry Malandain entrusts the leading roles to the entire ensemble of dancers. On a carpet of ash-colored petals, black roses abandoned by love, the possibility of a new beginning finally emerges.
Don Quixote
Choreography, set design, costumes, lighting Martin Harriague
Music to be confirmed
Creation in 2026 – Duration 40 mn
For 20 dancers
In Don Quixote, Martin Harriague traces the journey of a man who struggles against reality, guided by a faceless love and an unwavering faith in beauty. Beneath the knight’s madness lies the solitude of the artist, driven by the irrepressible need to believe, to imagine, and to create.
Shaped by this reflection, Don Quixote is Martin Harriague’s third creation for Ballet Biarritz, yet the first conceived with the awareness of his future leadership of the company.
