For 16 dancers

Rhapsody in Blue

Choreography Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich
Music George Gershwin, Bessie Jones
Sets and costumes Fabio Cherstich
Lights Eric Soyer

Created in February 2024 – Duration 25 min

Rhapsody in Blue draws inspiration from Gershwin’s masterpiece and the unique experiences of the choreographers. The piece removes/transcends the original work’s New York context and era, infusing it with a universal dimension through a poetic approach to movement and stagecraft.

Press talks about it

« Ansa and Bacovich’s [est] style is fluid and sculptural, highly musical, with touches of athletic virtuosity. It captivates with the undulating movements of the ensemble, occasionally revealing dazzling portraits of solo dancers. »

Valentina Bonelli, Vogue Italia

Solo Echo

Choreography Crystal Pite
Music Johannes Brahms
Set design Jay Gower Taylor
Costumes Crystal Pite & Joke Visser
Lights Tom Visser
Stage direction Eric Beauchesne

Revival for Aterballetto in February 2025 – Duration 20 min

Inspired by Mark Strand’s poem «Lines for Winter,» Solo Echo combines two sonatas for cello and piano by Johannes Brahms, the winter season, and the movement of the body to explore themes of love, acceptance, and loss.

Glory Hall

Choreography Diego Tortelli
Music Godspeed You ! Black Emperor ; Oneohtrix Point Never
Costumes Sportmax
Lights Matthias Singer
Assistant choreographerHélias Tur-Dorvault

Created in 2025 – Duration 30min

Glory Hall is the new creation by Diego Tortelli for Aterballetto’s 16 dancers, a sensorial and rebellious journey in an in-between space, suspended between light and darkness. Set in a black but never truly dark space, the choreography unfolds as an ecstatic rite where sensuality and profane spirituality intertwine. The dance, defying narrative, constantly regenerates itself, allowing fleeting emotions to explode. In Glory Hall, anything is possible: the music leads in a crescendo of harmony and transgression, for an ecstasy without boundaries, blending rock sounds and symphonic melodies.

Press talks about it

« The dancers of the Reggio Emilia company confirm their versatility and their skills in both technique and interpretation. And as always, the audience is left impressed—not only by the quality of their movement, but also by their group chemistry, the way they move as one, and the energy they transmit to the audience. »
